Shaykh Mahmoud Al-Assal is an Egyptian native Arabic speaker and a distinguished graduate of the Alexandria Institute of Qirāʾāt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, where he completed all academic programs with exceptional excellence and achieved first place rankings throughout his studies.
He earned his Ijāzah in Tajwīd and the narration of Ḥafṣ over a two-year period, graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first. He then completed the Advanced Qirāʾāt Program (Ijāzah in the Ten Qirāʾāt) over three years, once again graduating with an Excellent grade and ranking first.
Shaykh Mahmoud holds multiple Qur’anic Ijāzāt, including ʿĀṣim (2007), Warsh (2010), Qālūn and Abū Jaʿfar (2012), Ibn ʿĀmir (2015), Ḥamzah (2015), and the complete Ten Qirāʾāt (2016), all granted by Shaykh Yousry Mohamed Awad. He also possesses Ijāzāt in the classical Tajwīd texts Al-Jazariyyah and Al-Tuhfah from well-known contemporary scholars.
With over 13 years of teaching experience, he has taught Qur’an and Qirāʾāt at several prominent Qur’anic institutions. His teaching background includes online instruction for non-Arabic speakers in English, in addition to teaching at leading Qur’anic centers in Alexandria.
Since 2019, Shaykh Mahmoud has been the Director and Co-Founder of Shaykhi Academy, where he continues to serve as a Senior Instructor. His teaching specialties include advanced Tajwīd, Qirāʾāt and Ijāzah programs, Qur’an memorization, and Qur’an and Arabic reading courses.
